Dr. Stephanie Sarkis is the author of five books: Natural Relief for Adult ADHD: Complementary Strategies for Increasing Focus, Attention, and Motivation With or Without Medication (2015); 10 Simple Solutions to Adult ADD: How to Overcome Chronic Distraction & Accomplish Your Goals (2nd edition, 2011); Adult ADD: A Guide for the Newly Diagnosed (2011); ADD and Your Money: A Guide to Personal Finance for Adults with Attention Deficit Disorder (2009); and Making the Grade with ADD: A Student’s Guide to Succeeding in College with Attention Deficit Disorder (2008).
Dr. Sarkis is an AMHCA Diplomate and Clinical Specialist in Child and Adolescent Counseling, National Certified Counselor, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Qualified LMHC Supervisor, and Florida Supreme Court Certified Family and Circuit Civil Court Mediator. She is also a blogger for The Huffington Post and Psychology Today. She has a private practice in Tampa, Florida.
Dr. Sarkis is a Gator four times over, receiving the following degrees from the University of Florida: Bachelor of Science in Telecommunication, 1994; Masters of Education in Mental Health Counseling, 1997; Specialist of Education in Mental Health Counseling, 1997; Doctor of Philosophy in Mental Health Counseling, 2002.
In 2001, Dr. Sarkis received an Outstanding Dissertation Award from the American Psychological Association for her research on ADHD and the executive functions of the brain. That same year she was a finalist for a Fulbright Award. She is a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals, Florida Academy of Collaborative Professionals, Next Generation Divorce (serving on the External Public Education committee), American Mental Health Counselors Association, Florida Mental Health Counselors Association, and CHADD. She is also a member of Daughters of the American Revolution and Junior League.
Dr. Sarkis lectures and presents her research internationally. She has written chapters in edited books and has been published in several journals and magazines, including: Journal of Attention Disorders, National Psychologist, The ADHD Report, and Smart Money Magazine. She has also been featured on CNN’s “Health Minute”, Fox News, ABC News, Sirius Satellite Radio, First Business Television,Woman’s Day, The Jordan Rich Show, and numerous other networks, stations, and publications.
Dr. Sarkis is the founder of the Moulton-Farnsworth Scholarship for college students with ADHD. She is featured in the book The Gift of Adult ADD by Lara Honos-Webb Ph.D.
Dr. Sarkis is a member of the Junior League and Daughters of the American Revolution. Her interests include traveling, photography, genealogy, gardening, and the outdoors. She lives in Tampa Bay, FL.
